Batchtown will celebrate the 4th of July.

Simpson and Fuller are tired of the bottom.

L. Wood and J. D. Roge were in town Monday.

Many are complaining of too much rain.

Monday was a big business day with us.

The new wagon maker has not yet arrived.

Geo. L. Adderton continues to do a big business.

Over 41 different teams were in Batchtown Monday.

Rev. G. W. Flagge is expected to visit home this week.

Al Springstun had work for five assistants Monday.

Miss Williams has done a big millinery business this season.

Ora Harrell, who has been at work in Missouri the past three months, has returned home.

Geo. Schice has hundreds of barrels ready for apple growers.

We would like to see A. B. Lowe elected County Judge.

T. B. Smith’s wedding cards are dated June 20, 1888. He is to be married to a Pike County lady who will bring him to “Time”—where they will live the coming winter.

Some of our farmers have taken forcible possession of the shanties in the bottom and are trying to get in a crop of corn. The frogs and snakes still linger about.

Rev. R. L. Smith of the Missouri conference, preached at Batchtown last Sunday at 11 A.M. Mr. Smith is a young man of rare talent and aspires to recognition among the best educated itinerant ministers. He is now located at Canton, Mo., on the St. L. K. & N. W. R. R.
