August H. Brinkman, 73, of East Alton, formerly of Jerseyville, died at his residence.
Born in Calhoun county, he was a son of the late August H & Laura (Simpson) Brinkman.
He was an adjuster at Olin corporation where he retired in 1973 with 31 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Verna (Devous) Brinkman, whom he married Dec. 26, 1971; 2 sons, Robert M. Brinkman of Yorktown, VA and William L. Devous of East Alton; 1 daughter, Wilma Brinkman of Wood River; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; 6 sisters, Emma Garrison, Hilda Franke and Musetta Siemer, all of Batchtown, Helen Billbuck of Brighton, Theresa Creech of Godfrey and Loraine Haynes of West Palm Beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae (Kroeschel) Brinkman who died in 1968; and 1 son, Gene Brinkman.
Masonic rites were conducted at Marks mortuary, Wood River by the Jerseyville Lodge No 394 AF & AM. services were held there also. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.
