BURGE, Jewell Eileen, 79, of Kampsville, IL, died Tues., Jan. 20, 1998 at Pittsfield Health Care Center.
She was a homemaker and supervisor for Pleasant Hill Garment Factory for more than 20 years.
She was a member of Hamburg Methodist Church.
Born Oct. 17, 1918 in Hamburg, IL she was the daughter of the late Abbitt and Neva Alice Turpin Smith.
She married Raymond L. Burge in October 1936 in St. Charles, MO and he died in June 1987.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Deloris F. Walker of League City, TX and Joan L. Scranton of Aransas Pass, TX; 2 sons, Norman L. Burge and Charles R. Burge, both of Kampsville, IL; 3 brothers, Lewis Smith of Elsberry, MO, Glenn Smith of Pleasant Hill, IL and Spencer Smith of Rockport, IL; 3 sisters, Hallie Barnes and Doris Mae Fulmer, both of Hamburg, IL and Elizabeth Karrick of Hettic, IL; 10 grandsons; 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Jimmy, Cleo, and Harold Smith; 2 sisters, Maxine Windy and Loretta Smith.
Visitation was held Friday at Hanks Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin. The funeral was conducted Fri, Jan. 23, 1998 at Hanks Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin, IL with Rev. Paul D. Frazier officiating. Burial was in Summit Grove Cemetery in Kampsville, IL.
