Mrs. Flossie P. Clendenny, 79, of Pleasant Hill, died Tuesday (Dec. 6, 1977) at 5:40 a. m. Pike County Hospital at Louisiana, Mo. after a long illness.
Mrs. Clendenny was born in Calhoun County on Oct. 20, 1898, a daughter of Slocum and Alice Polies Clowers.
She was a member of the Mozier Christian church, Pleasant Hill; American Legion Auxiliary; and the Rebecca’s.
She was married to L. A. (Jack) Clendenny, in Pleasant Hill, July 17, 1917. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this summer. Mr. Clendenny was a long-time John Deere dealer in Pleasant Hill.
Surviving are the husband; a son, L. A. Clendenny, Jr., of Pleasant Hill; a daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Imogene) Guthrie of Pleasant Hill, a sister, Mrs. Bertha Weeks of Pasco, Wash.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 1:30 pm. in the Ward-Lummis funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Maynard officiating. Burial was in Crescent Heights Cemetery.
