Obituary - Paul Clendenny

Paul Calvin Clendenny, 74, of Godfrey, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001. at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born May 30, 1927, in Belleview, he was a son of Oscar Jack and Viola Edwards Clendenny. He married Mary Ellen Roberts and she survives.

He was a 37-year employee of Laborers Local 218 in Granite City. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Panama Canal. He enjoyed raising foxhounds and fox hunting, with his friends.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years; two sons, Calvin Clendenny (special friend Marlinda Birkner) and David Clendenny (wife Patty); one daughter Mrs. Butch (Janet) Baisden; two brothers, Keith and Ronald Clendenny; four sisters, Emma Gifford, Leora Rhodes, Magdalene Wills, and Phyllis Vanstrien; two grandchildren, Tyleia Robinson and P.J. Clendenny and two great-grandchildren, Joey and Shane Robinson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Cork and Warren Clendenny.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. at Ward-Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill conducted by Rev. Wilson Ramsey. Burial was at Fox Creek Cemetery in Mozier. Casket bearers were Calvin Clendenny, Gus Wills, Raymond Brown, P.J. Clendenny, Herbie Griffin, Richard Brown, Robert Ghrist, and Todd Miller, his best friend and hunting buddy.
