Obituary - Warren Clendenny

Man Burned To Death In Car

A Calhoun County resident was burned to death in his car when it caught fire in Meredosia, Ill. last Thursday night. Warren J. Clendenny of north Calhoun County was killed when his car caught fire behind a tavern about 2:15 a.m., Morgan County police said. An employee of the tavern had checked on Clendenny about 2 am. and reported he was sleeping in his car with the motor running but was alright at the time.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Viola (Edwards) Clendenny of Belleview; four children, Steve, Sheri, Jackie and Brenda, all of Pleasant Hill; three brothers; Paul of Godfrey; Keith of Canton, Ill. and Ronald of East Alton; and four sisters, Mrs. Emma Dell Gifford of St. Louis, Mrs. Leora Rhodes of Lutesville, Mo., Mrs. Madeline Wills of Sadorus, Ill. and Mrs. Phyllis Beck of Pittsfield.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, Dec 7,1974 at the Mozier Church of Christ officiated by Wilson Ramsey. Burial was in Fox Creek Cemetery.
