John Hodgen Douglas, 23 years, 17 days, died April 19, at the home of Judge O. P. Powell. The eldest son of Dr. James R. & Maria E. Douglas, of Batchtown, Illinois, the deceased was a student of Jacksonville Business College. He was visiting James Powel, his room mate, when he was taken with a chill on Sat. After great suffering died of cerebro-spinal meningitis. His remains were taken to his home in Calhoun County for interment.
