H. McCartney rites held in East St. Louis
Funeral services for Hiram H. (Tooter) McCartney of East St. Louis, a former Jerseyville resident, were held on 31 May. His death occurred on 28 May in St. Mary's hospital in East St. Louis.
He was born on 4 May 1911 in Calhoun county, a son of the late Hiram and Nettie McCartney.
Mr. McCartney was a member of Laborers Local 338 of Wood River, American Legion Post 53 of East St. Louis, and was a veteran of World War II.
His wife, the former Anna Mae Fallin of Cottage Hills, preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons, Robert and Michael of East St. Louis; three daughters, Mrs. Carl Meuth of Belleville, Mrs. Terry Meuth of Granite City and Miss Carol McCartney of East St. Louis; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Isringhausen of Danville and Mrs. Otto Kraushaar of Michael; and a brother, Tony, of Wood River.
