Mrs. Jessie May Mielke, wife of Harvey A. Mielke, Sr., of Grafton, died Monday morning, April 22, at 2:54 o'clock at St. Joseph hospital in Alton where he had been a patient for a month. Requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Anthony Schmidt at 9:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Patrick's church in Grafton and interment was in the Hartford cemetery. Visitation hours were held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mielke, a resident of Grafton for thirty-six years, was a daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Besaw Desherlia, and was born at Deerplain in Calhoun County on October 23, 1899. Her age at death was 68 years, 5 months and 29 days.
Surviving her in addition to her husband are one son, Harvey A. Mielke, Jr. of Fresno, California; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Poore of Grafton, and four brothers; Sheriff Adam Desherlia and Elmer Desherlia of Jerseyville, Charles Desherlia of Grafton and Stephen Desherlia of Peoria.
