Funeral services for William Russell Morgan of Milton, a former resident of Jersey County, were held on Saturday afternoon November 21 at one o'clock at the Hanks Funeral Home in Pearl with Brother Lowell Manchester of the Church of Christ officiating assisted by Brother Jungens. Burial was in the Noble cemetery at Otterville.
The death of Mr. Morgan occurred at the Illini Hospital in Pittsfield on November 19. He had suffered several heart attacks.
The decedent, a son of James and Sarah Morgan, was born in Iowa May 18, 1887.
He was married to Frieda Kirchner and the couple had one son, Russell.
Following the death of his wife Mr. Morgan was married on November 15, 1947 to Margaret Becker Faber.
Mr. Morgan spent most of his life in Jersey and Calhoun counties and was engaged in farming for many years. He had retired from employment at the western. He and his wife had resided on a farm near Medora before moving to Milton in October 1961. Mr. Morgan was a member of the First Baptist church in Jerseyville.
Surviving him are his wife, one son, Russell Morgan of Grafton, two step daughters, Mrs. Home Lane of Milton and Mrs. Henry Parker of Godfrey, a step-son, Harry Faber of Inglewood, California, twenty grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Les (Edna) Gunterman of Jerseyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
