A BAD ACCIDENT

Monday night, Joseph Mielke, the blind son of Frank Mielke, of Poor Farm Hollow, fell off the big wagon bridge in the north end of town and badly hurt himself on the rocks. Dr. Flatt was called and dressed the wounds it required thirteen stitches to close them up. Joe and Watson Craigmiles, the latter an inmate of the Poor House, comes to town frequently alone and always get back home safely. Monday night Joe was visiting friends in the north part of town and when he thought it about time to go home, concluded he would come over in town and look Craigmiles up. He rarely travels in strange places alone and when he came to the big bridge, he went too far to the west and fell over the bridge, although there was an obstruction which he fell over, probably by walking very fast. His cries for help brought Mr. Graham, the photographer, who took him to his home and telephoned the doctor. After the wounds were dressed he was taken to his father’s house about three miles north-west of town and is in a pretty bad condition but the doctor thinks he will recover. This accident is to be regretted by many as Joe is an industrious young man who, although blind, makes his way financially by making brooms. He knows the business thoroughly and has built up quite an extensive trade. We hope he will be out in a few days.
