Obituary - Shirley Clendenny

She was born July 22, 1929, in Holton, Kan. to Ray and Mary Westcott Bartlett. She married Laurence A. Clendenny Jr., May 17, 1947 and he survives.

She was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School and was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She worked as a bookkeeper at Clendenny Garage in Pleasant Hill and later worked as a home health aide for the Pike County Health Department, retiring in 1994.

She volunteered for the Fairfield Library It in Pleasant Hill and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed drinking coffee at Pam's Café in Pleasant Hill and eating out with family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially attending their various activities.

She is survived by her husband, Laurence Clendenny Jr. of Pleasant Hill; one son, Jack (wife Sandy), Clendenny of Seiling, Okla.; one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Cathy) Hart of Fairhope, Ala.; five grandchildren, Bobby (wife Holly) Jones of Pleasant Hill, Mrs. Scott (Kelly) Campbell of Pleasant Hill, Mrs. James (Brandi) Sheppard of Pittsfield, Mrs. Ryan (Wendy) Shireman of St. Louis, MO., and Stacy Clendenny of Springfield; five step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren seven step-great-grandchildren; one brother, John (wife: Juanita) Bartlett of St. Charles, Mo; two sisters, Betty Mooney of Pleasant Hill and Doris Gray of Waverly; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Charlotte Rae: Jones; and a granddaughter, Neali, Marie Clendenny.

Services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ward-Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill with the Rev. Paul White officiating. Burial was at Crescent Height Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. Visitation was held from 9 am until time of services. Casket bearers were Bobby Jones, Scott Campbell, Jim Sheppard, Ryan Shireman, Ray Jones and Devin Campbell.
