Edward Preston Lowe was born 21 Aug. 1836 in St. Louis, Missouri where he spent his boyhood days.
He graduated from Liggett's Commercial College of St. Louis and Oakfield German School of Oakfield, Missouri.
The family moved to Jersey county in the fall of 1853.
He was married on 4 Jun. 1865 to Edith Whitten, the daughter of his nearest neighbor. Four children were born: Richard L., Francis A., Charles E. and Harry M. They and the mother survive.
He moved his family to Calhoun county, Ill. In 1868 and engaged in mercantile business until 1875. They moved back to Jersey county and farming at farm near Nutwood, Ill. He was 75 years of age.
