PLUMMER. 19 October 1951: Clarence O. Plummer of Grafton died suddenly Saturday Morning, 13 October at nine-fifteen o'clock while at his work at the Illinois Powder Manufacturing Company at Grafton.
Plummer had been talking to a co-worker, Burl Hill, and had not complained of feeling ill. He was found dead a short time later by Frederick Miller, another employee of the company. A brother, Thomas, died a few days ago in Detroit. An inquest was conducted by Coroner Rodney C. Jacoby of Jerseyville and death was attributed to natural causes.
Mr. Plummer was a son of the late John and Laura Carrico Plummer and was born in Calhoun County on 11 October 1895. His death occurred two days after his fifty-sixth birthday anniversary. The decedent had been a resident of Grafton for the past thirty-five years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edith Arnold Plummer; two daughters, Mrs. Forrest Duncan of Grafton and Mrs. James Creech of Alton; three sons, Stanley Plummer of the US Navy stationed in Japan, Larry and Tommie Plummer of Grafton; four sisters, Mrs. Lillian Eastman of Grafton, Mrs. Lela Keller of St. Louis, Mrs. Cora Schoetker of Monon, Indiana, and Mrs. Ruby Waggoner of Vancouver, Washington. He also leaves seven grandchildren.
He was a member of the Grafton City Council serving as alderman, and of the Modern Woodman of America. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon 16 October at two o'clock at St. Patrick's church with Rev. Father Michael Sheehy officiating. Interment was in Scenic Hill cemetery.
