Obituary - Charles Ringhausen

RINGHAUSEN. Died 22-04-1962.

Charles C. Ringhausen, 71 years, 8 months, 13 days, a resident at Waters Nursing Home, died there Sunday April 22, at 12:25 pm. Final rites were held Wednesday afternoon April 25, at 2 pm at First Presbyterian church with the pastor, Rev. M. Edwards Breed, officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove cemetery. Prior to the services friends called at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Mr. Ringhausen had been ill for more than 2 years and had been hospitalized at various times during his illness.

Mr. Ringhausen was a son of the late Christian & Christine (Schafer) Ringhausen and was born August 9, 1890 in Hardin.

He moved with his family to Jerseyville on May 17, 1928. The Ringhausen name has been prominently identified with the orchard industry in Jersey and Calhoun counties for many years and he had remained active in the industry in both counties until his illness.

In 1931 Mr. Ringhausen and his brothers, Clarence, Ed and the late Stephen Ringhausen, entered the cold storage business and erected the Ringhausen cold storage plant of S. State st. Later Charles purchased the interests of his brothers in the business.
