Obituary - Albert Slone

Albert Lee Slone, 60, of Hamburg, died Thursday, October 8, 1998 at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis.

A construction laborer, he was a member of Local 968 in Hardin and retired in 1991. He was a member of the Indian Creek Church of Christ in Hamburg, where he served as an elder, teacher, song leader and treasurer faithfully for many years. He also served as sexton of the cemetery for several years.

He served as village trustee for four terms on the Hamburg Village Board and had served as a volunteer fireman in Hamburg until his failing health.

 Born December 3, 1937 in Kampsville, he was the son of the late Charles L. and Gertrude Varble Slone.

He married Shirley A. Carroll August 31, 1959 in Hamburg and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Anita M. Bogan of Pittsfield, two sons, Kenneth L. Slone of Hamburg and Dennis L. Slone of Hardin; one brother, Charles L. Slone Jr of Bethalto; two sisters, Betty Lammy and Eileen Doerr both of Hamburg; one half-brother, Danny Rulon; eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Geneva Pyatt.

Visitation was held Sunday at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin. The funeral was conducted Monday, October 12, 1998 at Indian Creek Church of Christ in Hamburg with Brothers Art Rowland and Ray Shup officiating. Burial was in Indian Creek Cemetery in Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Indian Creek Church of Christ, church cemetery and Calhoun ambulance service.
