Elmer P. "Huck" Varble, 61, of Jerseyville, died January 7 in an Alton hospital.
He was born July 27, 1924, in Calhoun County to George and Iona (Wilkins) Varble.
He married his wife, Betty, on June 22, 1952.
He was a carpenter and fisherman.
Survivors include: his wife Betty of Jerseyville; 2 sons Elmer Eugene Varble of Fieldon and Frank Varble of West Harrison, Indiana; 4 daughters, Glenda Findley and Becky Varble, both of East Alton, Janet Weller of Jerseyville and Nancy Varble at home; 2 brothers Frank Varble of East Hardin and Melvin Varble of Williamsburg, Virginia; 4 Sisters, Thelma Sprong, of Hamburg, Helen Swisher and Margie Warren both of Shipman, and Velma Varble of White Hall; and 13 grandchildren.
Visitation was January 19, at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, and the funeral was there January 10, with the Rev. R. E. George officiating. Burial was in the Hardin cemetery.
