WIEGAND. Died 05-04-1971.
C C "Carl" Wiegand, 82 years, 6 months, 22 days, former Jersey County farmer, now of Godfrey, died April 5, at Jersey Community hospital. He had been a patient for 2 weeks.
Final rites were held at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev W Louis Purcell, pastor of United Methodist Church, conducted the service. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
He was a son of the late George F & Nancy (Squier) Wiegand and was born in Calhoun County September 13, 1888.
Mr Wiegand engaged in farming in Jersey County for a number of years, and later he and his wife operated a grocery store in Hartford.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs S l (Lillian) Simms, Jerseyville and Mrs Neal (Gertrude) Sheppard, Bethalto; 11 grandchildren and 15 g-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, B Gladys Wiegand, 1 son, 1 grandchild and 6 brothers and sisters. Mrs Wiegand died in October 1970.
