Obituary - George Woelfel

WOELFEL. Died 08-10-1966.

George William Woelfel, 63, of Jerseyville, died October 8, at Jersey Community hospital where he had been moved a few hours earlier. He had been ill for some time. Visitation was at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville where the rosary was recited. Funeral services were held at Holy Ghost Church with Rev Fr Paul P Heinen celebrant of Requiem Mass. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery.

He was a son of the late Fred & Elizabeth (Brinkman) Woelfel and was born in Calhoun County, March 12, 1903.

He was a steamfitter by trade and was employed by Holmes & Narver Const Co.

He was a member of Local 553 Plumbers & Fitters Union, Knights of Columbus, and Moose Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Rose Woelfel; 4 sons, George L, Alton, Alfred H, Richard A, and Ronald J Woelfer, Jerseyville; 1 daughter, Mrs William Simpson Jr, Jerseyville; 16 grandchildren; 1 brother, Henry Woelfel, Jerseyville; and 3 sisters, Mrs Andrew Klass, Batchtown, Mrs Josephine Droege, Peoria, and Mrs Virgil Watts, Franklin.

One daughter, Elizabeth (Betty Lou) preceded him in death.
